Breast surgery – unfortunately after breastfeeding breasts get saggy. Sometimes a lift will help, other times a woman will opt for implants as well. This is the most common procedure included in a mummy makeover.

Most women are very happy to trade the scar for more normal contours.”
Brachioplasty or Arm lift – women often put on weight during pregnancy and sometimes when they lose it (or most of it) the skin doesn’t always bounce back – this includes under the arms (or bat wings as they are also called).
Thigh lift – this helps to create more contour and lift everything back into place when gravity might be taking it’s toll on your thighs.
Labiaplasty – you can get your female bits back in place and shape not only to look and feel better, but to function better too. Dr McGovern says of labiaplasty, “Labiaplasty procedures have now lost the stigma once associated with this type of surgery and as a result many more women are assessing their options for improvement in this area.”
Liposuction – helps with contouring. Liposuction is often performed in conjunction with an abdominoplasty to create the shape the patient wants to achieve. However, Dr McGovern reminds us, “Liposuction is not a substitute for weight reduction, but a method of removing localized fat that doesn’t respond to dieting and exercise.”
Combining Procedures
A surgeon may suggest or agree to a patient combining procedures to reduce the number of surgeries they need to have to achieve their results. Dr McGovern says it is definitely something that is considered on a case by case basis, however combining procedures can save money and recovery time. There are a few factors that determine if you are suitable to undergo more than one procedure at a time such as:
- Your overall level of health – your surgeon needs to identify if you are physically able to deal with the recovery, as well as go under anaesthesia for a longer period of time.
- Which procedures are you having and does it make sense to combine them?
