Facial Rejuvenation Options with Dr Patrick Briggs

Facial treatment or procedure

Your Facial Rejuvenation Options – Do you need a facelift or something less invasive?

It can get completely confusing trying to research and decide on which procedure or treatment is going to get you the results you want. Everyone has a different opinion on which ones are best, from patients with good (or bad) results, to clinics, surgeons and practitioners offering and specialising in different ones. Dr Patrick Briggs, Specialist Plastic Surgeon in Melbourne VIC at Coco Ruby Plastic Surgery says there are many factors to consider when assessing your suitability for a facial procedure or treatment and he talked to us about how to identify which facial treatment or procedure might be right for you.

Facial Surgery and Facial Treatments or Both?

Facelift, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, cheek or chin implants, laser, IPL, microdermabrasion, threads… these are just a few of the options available for facial rejuvenation.

Dr Briggs advises that the best thing you can do is to have a consultation with appropriately trained and qualified surgeons. “At our clinic we conduct a wide variety of facial procedures that are tailored to the unique and individual requirements of our patients. We always aim to keep our patients fully informed of the options that are open to them.”

So, the best thing you can do is to arrange a consultation with a clinic or surgeon who can give you an individual assessment on your skin, skin concerns and discuss your desired results and then talk you through your options. What works for one patient, might totally not work for another. We all have different facial structures, skin and skin concerns and it is definitely not a “one size fits all” approach. If you really aren’t sure what you want, consult with a professional.

Surgical Options for your Face and Neck

Dr Briggs says of surgical options, “Plastic surgery of the face can take up to ten years off the average patient, and even more in some cases. We consider many factors when assessing your suitability for a facial procedure; these include your age, the condition of your skin, and if you are prepared to undertake the specific pre-surgery skin conditioning regime we think is appropriate for your skin. However, the bottom line is that if we don’t think that you are a suitable candidate for facial surgery and that the outcome would not be beneficial for you, we will not proceed with the surgery. There are non-surgical options that may suit you better, and we will discuss these with you also.”

This is an important point to note. Dr Briggs is renowned for his loyal following of patients and he says it’s as much about what you tell a patient won’t suit them as to what will. “The people that can best vouch for how professional we are in this regard are those that we have advised not to undertake facial surgery. We believe that our ethical approach to the work that we do helps to build trust between us and all of our potential clients.”

Rejuvenating Facial Treatments

Non-surgical treatments have come a long way. They are able to provide quite significant results when done by qualified and experienced practitioners. They are also usually the more economical option, and are often all a patient needs to feel revived, refreshed and rejuvenated.

Some of the non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments Dr Briggs offers at the Coco Ruby Skin clinic are:

  • Chin Fat Dissolver
  • Micro Skin Needling
  • HeaLite LED therapy
  • Microdermabrasion
  • IPL
  • Chemical Peels
  • Wrinkle Relaxers
  • Dermal Fillers
  • Sclerotherapy

Do Your Research

Doing your research to identify what procedure or treatment might give you the results you’re after will arm you with knowledge before you walk into any consultation and might help you choose which practitioner you consult with. It goes without saying that you should DEFINITELY do your research on a particular practitioner or surgeon before arranging any consult.

They can affect any results you may get, regardless of which procedure or treatment you choose.
